Motivated by the unrealistic and over-esteemed representation of rich main characters in YA and teen fiction, Karen Jensen of School Library Journal’s “Teen Librarian Toolbox,” provides an excellent review of several books depicting a realistic view of impoverished youth more consistent with our nation’s current economic climate.
